RecommendationSplitSplit, capital of Splitsko-Dalmatinska county is the main urban, cultural and traffic center of Dalmatia. It will conquer you with its beautifull nature, city architecture, fort Pozvizd, from where you can see the countryside. There are also large number of beautiful bays and beaches in the area like Papratno bay. There are also various events like Ston summer (od 15.7.-30.8.) - with fashion shows and entertainment programs and since the city is known for its salt production and seashell growing we recommend that you try this delicious food in various restaurants in Ston.
For excursions you can visit Lumbarda - where summer houses of noble families from Korcula are situated, Blato - town filled with various forts and houses of monumental value, Dubrovnik - world known historical city, Mljet - national park. MurterTown of Murter is situated in Sibensko-Kninska county on the island of Murter. You can arrive easily because it is connected to the mainland by bridge. You will be taken by sandy beaches of Kosirina and Slanica situated on SW side of the island which is the ideal place for families with children. Take a walk through the narrow streets, enjoy in beautifull details and you will not be able to resist the large number of dalmatian cuisine restaurants. Night life is located on the main square in caffe bars, and for those who want more, we recommend Vodice on the mainland.
Murter is a popular destination mariners because of the marina in the city, and certainly you didn't know that the oldest public library in Dalmatia was founded here in 1866. If you climb on the hills of Murter, you will discover the remains of roman settlement Collentum, on cape Gradini ancient Croatian graves have been found. From cultural events we recommend St.Rok (16.08.) feast, and Mala Gospa (08.09.), and if you are in the mood for and excursion be sure to visit the smallest town on Murter - JEZERA, that got it's name from large puddles that appear in winter and close the valley giving the impression of a real lake, BETINA, a town with a hundred small family shipyards. The rich heritage of SIBENIK is also near as well as Kornati and Krka national parks. PeljesacPeljesac is the largest peninsula in Dalmatia and is situated in Dubrovacko-Neretvanska county. Trademarks of the peninsula are noblemens villas, colorfull churches and high quality red wines (Dingac and Posip). Rich and diverse offer of accommodation ranging from hotels, camps, villas to private accommodation in small towns you will make up your mind easily. In mountain regions of the peninsula you ca enjoy in hunting, and when you get down to the coast in the vicinity of Orebic there is a beautifull bay where you can sail and enjoy the view of Korcula.
Be sure to photograph forts along the strip that connects the peninsula to the mainland, go to Ston and try delicious clams and other seafood specialties, take a ferry to Korcula and discover countless hidden beaches and bays, hidden in pine forrests, and when you get tired stop by a restaurant or a wine cellar and enjoy a good dinner and a glass of good wine. VodiceVodice, town in the vicinity of Sibenik, belongs to Sibensko-kninska county and is situated 10 km NW of Sibenik, and 60 km SE of Zadar and therefore can be reached by car, airplane, bus, ship and train. Vodice have typical mediterranean town center which is mentioned for the first time in 1402. This once fortified medieval town gave, with it's walls, protection to the population during the invasion of the Turks, and there are various monuments that are witnesses to those turbulent times.
Area around Vodice consists of many colorfull towns of this beautifull riviera characterized by sand and pebble beaches. Beside visiting those towns be sure to visit the islands of Sibenik archipelago and Krka and Kornati national parks. KlekKlek is situated in Dubrovacko-Neretvanska county, on the road from Ploce to Dubrovnik. Town of Klek is situated on Klek peninsula, in Bay of Mali Ston, SE of the mouth of the Neretva river in an area rich with fish. Area has a long history and was once part of glorious Dubrovnik Republic, and today some 80 poeple live here who are mainly employed in growing fruit, vegetables and olives, fishing and tourism.
Situated in the very south of Croatia where the nature is rich and docile, Klek is the destination for people seeking quiet family vacation, and beside swimming and sunbathing there are also few tennis courts and a mini-golf course available. Because of proximity we recommend that you visit Ston and Dubrovnik. |
